Getting Started as a Charity Seeking to do Charitable Gaming
https://www.michigan.gov/mgcb/millionaire-party
Any 501(c)3 from Michigan is eligible to receive a "Millionaire Party" license that allows you to host up to 4 charitable gaming events per year. Click on "I am a new charity looking to hold events for the first time." If you are not sure what grouping your charity falls under (Educational, Civic, Religious, etc...) please call the MGCB at 313-456-4940 and ask them. On the second page of any of these documents is the list of what information is required for licensing. The MGCB says that processing charity applications takes 6-8 weeks. Be sure to watch your email for follow up questions from MGCB.
Once your charity is qualified, MGCB assigns you a 6 digit number. You can then work with any Millionaire Party supplier to host events. We host events in Comstock Park, MI (weekly M-TH) and soon in Holland, MI (weekly M-W). Please reach out to the Charity Coordinators or MGCB with any questions during this process.
Your Commitment and Ours:
We suppliers provide poker tables & chairs, cards & chips, and licensed dealers and staff. There is a good pool of players that come regularly, though charities are also encouraged to invite players which, in turn, makes the charity more money. The room at Westgate includes a bar and concessions.
Your group must provide 2-3 volunteers from 2:00pm-2:00am (we recommend shifts) Monday-Thursday (Westgate) with cash tables and a nightly 7:00pm tournament. Westgate is very busy Mondays-Wednesdays since no other rooms in the area are open during those days. Everyone is welcome to attend any events and speak with our staff with any questions.
